School Immunisation Catch Up

As part of the services offered by the health centre at Waitākere College, we are providing an immunisation catch-up to ensure our community is protected against infectious diseases. This is a free service that will be offered in 2023, with a Vaccinator Nurse coming to the school to complete these immunisations.

We are offering this because some people have missed out on immunisations that protect them against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR); whooping cough, diphtheria and tetanus (Boostrix); or human papillomavirus (HPV). Last year, some Year 8 students missed getting their second dose of HPV at school due to Covid-19 disruptions.

On Thursday 27th April during the Year 9 assembly, your child received consent forms which contain detailed information about these immunisations. Please ask your child for this.

Students also watched a video that you can view on this link https://vimeo.com/806532990

Please sign and return the included form/s to Student Centre as soon as possible. If your child needs more than one vaccine, you are required to complete each individual consent form. Your child's immunisation history will be rechecked before immunisations are given.

If you do not wish for your child to be vaccinated at school, please complete section B on the form/s and return it to school. You can get these vaccines for FREE at your GP/Doctor's clinic at any time.

If you have any questions about the catch-up vaccination or would like this information in a different language, please email [email protected] or  Phone: 021 391 648
