Orientation information:

International Student Orientation Dates 2025:

Orientation for Term 1, 2025 will be held on Thursday 30 January 2025 and Friday 31 January 2025.

Our orientation will cover everything that you will need to know as an International Student studying here. 

Academic: 

• If you are here for longer than one term, you will sit an English test and the Academic Adviser will help you arrange a suitable course of study if you are studying for one year or longer.
• You will learn the system for using the school internet and facilities - you will need a personal laptop or Chromebook for daily classes. Please note NO ipads or tablets if you are studying for longer than one term.

General: 

• School uniform and rules, rights and expectations, and personnel you need to know
• Use of a school diary, schedules and timetable
• Optional extra-curricular activities and volunteering

Living in New Zealand:

• Homestay information
• Safety & Wellbeing
• Transport
• Opening a bank account if you are studying for longer than one term
• Please ensure you have an NZ mobile phone number, kept in credit

You will be matched with a "Tutor Class Buddy" who will help you settle into life at Waitākere College.
