Waitākere College is a signatory to the NZQA Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. This Government-monitored system offers protection for our international students, and peace of mind for their families, which is unique to New Zealand.
'The Code' is a document created by the NZ Government that clearly outlines the comprehensive requirements of education providers enrolling international students. The purpose of this code is to support the Government’s objectives for international education by ensuring, so far as possible, that international students have a positive experience that supports their educational achievement.
It covers such aspects as care of students both inside and outside school, the accuracy and thoroughness of the information they are provided, contractual and financial procedures, immigration and insurance matters, safety and well being, orientation and support services, grievances and dispute resolution, and working with agencies.
