Waitākere College

Homestay

Waitākere College recruit their own homestays and offer a wide range of families so that we can find the best match for you. Large or small families, with or without pets, and with many different hobbies and interests. All of our homestays are close to school and they look forwarding to meeting you.

Homestay families provide three meals a day, internet and study area, in a comfortable, safe and caring environment. They are visited and police checked before students are placed in the home. Alternatively, should a student wish to live with family friends or relatives, this is referred to as a Designated Caregiver. All Designated Caregivers must be approved by the College and are police checked as part of this process.  They are then visited at least every six months and are expected to attend Teacher/Parent interviews and provide transport for their student to school events.
