Waitākere College

Fiafia Night

Another spectacular night of celebrating the rich tapestry of our cultural diversity, Waitākere College style. Full of colour, songs and an array of instruments and costumes that lit up the night highlighting the uniqueness of our school’s multicultural heritage.
Our Fiafia night served as a platform to showcase our cultural groups performing at this year’s Polyfest.

With six groups representing our kura, Kapa Haka opened the evening with an electrifying performance that blew everyone away. Followed by our Indian group with their beautiful performance paying tribute to their traditional Indian folk dance.
The Cook Island group infused the air with infectious energy, their rhythmic beats urging everyone to join in the dance in the 'around the world' segment with Mr Shanahan wowing the crowd with his dance moves.

The Filipino contingent wowed the crowd with their eclectic arrangement of music, dance and costumes.
The Romani group took us on a journey of discovery and left many of us yearning to know more about their beautiful culture.
Bringing the curtain down on this unforgettable night was none other than our Sāmoan group, whose electrifying performance left us breathless with its sheer precision and passion.

Well done to all our groups, a big NGA MIHI and THANK YOU to all our teachers, tutors, helpers and supporters for making the night a memorable one.
Thank you also to our fantastic MCs, our prefects, Elizabeth Ng, Keira Phipps, Zaynah Saviet, Anu Bayarsaikhan

Wishing all our performers the best of luck at Polyfest! Vinaka Vakalevu.
