School Open At Level 2 - Back To Class Monday 8 March - 8.40am - Day 3 On Timetable
Welcome back to Level 2 - Starting on Monday 8 March 2021
Kia ora parents and whānau,
Again my thanks to your whānau and our community working safely in your bubble, for us to be in this position to be able to return to school.
Full school for everyone from Monday 8 March, 2021 Learning from Home ceases under Level 2. School starts at 8:40am with a normal timetable. Day 3. Go straight to Period 1.
Our commitment to you and the children in your care, our community and our government is to ensure teaching and learning at Waitakere College is based on our values of Caring, Respect and Learning.
CARING - Physical site There are many Health and Safety (H&S) procedures in place, which the school will follow from Monday 8 March 2021. Some of which are outlined here:
Do not attend school if you are unwell. Stay at home.
Wash and dry hands regularly (we have hot water, soap, and Dyson driers in our toilets)
Students will use hand sanitiser on entry and exit to all classes
Surfaces/equipment will be wiped regularly with disinfectant
Drinking fountains will be closed - however, refills can occur
“Keep Left” in corridors for student flow
Canteen, Student Centre, Front office etc will have spacing plans
Appropriate Health Masks may be worn at any time.
CARING - Students, Teachers, and Our Parents and Whānau Our focus is to get back into learning and social routines as quickly as possible after a short disruption like this. It is important to reassure everyone that school is a good place to be, has safe routines, and to reconnect with teachers and fellow students.
LEARNING In the first few lessons, teachers will work with their students to review the status of the work done while Learning from Home. From there we will ensure good learning connections so that learning can be successful for the rest of Term 1. Weekly Reports will be sent this weekend with a focus on how your tamariki or mokopuna has engaged with the learning this week.

Wearing masks at school is strongly recommended at Waitakere College. To encourage the use of masks at school, we are holding two events next week.
Mask Making Workshops - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the hall at lunchtime, we will be holding making mask workshops. Students can bring their own material or use the resources provided by the school.
Competition Time - throughout next week we will be running a competition to see who can make the best masks. There will be three categories. The winner of each category will win a $40 supermarket voucher and a $20 canteen voucher. More information in class next week. Prizes donated by Mā Innovations.
