Waitākere College

New Staff Welcome

We are lucky to have 3 incredible new staff join our team!

This year we are lucky to have a Mandarin Language Assistant join us in the Languages Department.(Miss Liu pictured left)

"Hi! I’m Miss Liu. I come from China and I’m at Waitākere college as a Mandarin language assistant.
I enjoy dancing and know lots of things about Chinese culture and history. I can’t wait to meet you!"

If you see Miss Liu around the school be sure to welcome her with a "Kia ora" or "Nǐ hǎo"

"Kia ora. My name is Paul Kemsley (pictured middle) and I have joined the Technology Department here at Waitākere. Previous to this, for the past 5 years I have been a teacher in Taupo and before that, I worked in a couple of Auckland schools. I am originally from London, England.
You will find me in the Technology department across a range of Technology disciplines from DVC to Workshop and Engineering and also in Digital Tech. My background is in Product Design and Project Management. My young family and I have moved back to Auckland to be closer to our extended family. I am excited to start here at Waitak and despite the weather-related disruptions at the start of the year, I am looking forward to all the hustle, bustle and challenge and excitement of teaching. Outside of school, I am into being outside and enjoying New Zealand's great outdoors, family time, sunset walks with the dog on the beach, mountain biking, football and when we can get there snowboarding. Looking forward to becoming part of the community so feel free to stop by and say hello."

Ms Auvaa (pictured right)

"Talofa lava,

My name is Tapaau Auvaa, and I teach Samoan Lang and ESOL. Before I came to Waitākere College, I was a teacher at Naenae College, Lower Hutt in Wellington. I am happy to be here doing the mahi with our beautiful students in the College."
