Over 400 students from this year's Year 12 and 13 gained NCEA Level 1 and 2 certificates in 2022, with a good number achieving Merit and Excellence. And so it was wonderful to be able to celebrate their success at our special awards evening on Thursday and to also applaud the parents and whānau who have supported them.

This was also our opportunity to recognise the 2022 NZQA Scholarship winners from last year's Year 13. These students were in the top 3% nationally in their Level 3 subjects.

Our special guest on the evening was Regan Higgins, Founder and CEO of Franklin Smith, New Zealand's leading recruitment agency. Franklin Smith is a benefactor of Waitākere College. Through their generosity, the college has been able to purchase devices for students, send students to camps, provide uniforms, and support needy families. Regan is a born and bred Westie and we were proud to have him here to witness the success of students in the school he has supported.
