A Great Start To The Healthy Lunch Programme

Check out the menu for Term 2s free, healthy lunches for every student


Last Monday saw the beginning of the Government funded Healthy Lunches programme at Waitākere College.
It was rainy and cold so a perfect day for a warm meal of chicken, rice and veggies with plenty of fresh crunchy apples.

As well as the below menu there are special diet meals each day to accommodate every type of diet.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday menu is brought to us by FED, Their menu for the rest of term 2 is:

Week 1, 3, 5, 7, 9
Mondays Beef meatball yellow curry & rice
Tuesdays Spaghetti Bolognese
Wednesdays Savoury mince with potato mash

Week  2, 4, 6, 8, 10
Mondays Chicken Mongolian fried rice
Tuesdays Mac n Cheese with chicken bake
Wednesdays  Beef & Cannellini bean stew & potato mash

Thursday and Friday's menu is brought to us by Hebrew Kitchen

Week 4 (This week)
Thursday - Burgers
Friday - Wet hot dish

Week 5
Thursday - Chicken enchilada
Friday - Teriyaki meatballs with mixed veggies and rice

Week 6
Thursday - Burgers
Friday - Wet hot dish

Examples of wet hot dishes include Teriyaki meatballs with mixed veggies and rice, spaghetti meatballs, chicken tika masala, and beef chilli con carne with rice.
There are also different snacks each day such as apples, bananas, muffins, brownies, yoghurt & popcorn.
