Waitākere College

Sensory Chair for Neurodiverse Students

The ISC has started a Give a Little page to raise funds to purchase this

The Inclusion Support Centre, or Te Whare Rangimarie, is a unit within Waitākere College that supports approximately 50 young adults with alternate learning abilities.

We have been trialling a Protac Sensit Sensory Chair to support some of our students who experience high anxiety and/or sensory challenges.

"Individuals with ADHD and Autism can use the Protac SenSit® chair as a ‘contained space’ where the user is surrounded by the balls and receive the sensory stimuli needed to ensure calm and a sense of security. The chair can be used to eliminate sensory impressions so that the user can concentrate on school work for example."

We have found the Protac Sensit to be a very valuable tool in helping students to self-regulate. And when used as part of a daily routine, students are noticeably calmer, happier, and more engaged with their curriculum. You can read more about the sensory chair here

To purchase the Protac Sensit chair, we need to raise $4,147 and are appealing to the generosity of people such as yourself to help us achieve this goal.

Every dollar counts, so we thank you kindly for whatever sum you can contribute towards the sensory chair.
