Counselling Support at Waitākere College

At Waitākere College we have three counsellors available to meet with students.

When students come to counselling, we will talk, as much as they want to about what is happening for them. We will also talk about their hopes and what will support and grow their hopes. We work hard to not take sides or to look for who is to blame. Rather, we see a person as having knowledge about their own life which might help them to navigate the challenges they are facing. The counselling service is confidential so that anything that is shared with us remains between the counsellor and the student unless they choose to share or if there are serious safety concerns.

How to make a referral for yourself or someone in your care

If you are a student, there are two ways you can make an appointment. You can go to THIS LINK and complete the form or you can come over to the support services building (the yellow building beside the whare at the front of the school) and fill in the form outside Heidi's office. When it's time for you to come for your appointment, an appointment slip will be sent to your class

If you would like to refer your child/a student in your care please go to THIS LINK and complete the form. One of the counsellors will get in touch with you regarding your referral.
