We warmly welcome our three international students who join Waitākere College in Term 2. Joining us are two students from Japan and one student from Germany.  We are excited to have them join us and we hope they have a great time studying and living here.

Last term we had our first potluck evening with our homestay families and caregivers. This was an opportunity for the International team to thank our amazing families in person for their care and support of our international students. It was also an opportunity for us to meet our new homestay families, as well as reconnect with our long term families. The majority of our homestay families do not have children attending Waitākere College so this was a good way for them to visit and see our school as well.

We had around 50 people attend and the highlight of the evening was showing a presentation to our families of what our students said about their homestay. The evening was a success and we will ensure that this will be an annual event. For those that were not able to attend, hopefully you will be able to make it to the next event.

Another highlight was the 50th Jubilee which the school celebrated.  It was an amazing event with past students and staff attending.  Duong Vo who was the 2023 Dux Litterarum came along and it was great to catch up with him. Duong is studying Computer Science at University in Auckland and we wish him all the very best with his tertiary studies.
