Waitākere College Wins Fourth Consecutive Kaipara Sports Exchange

In the final week of Term 1, Waitākere College took part in our annual sports exchange with Kaipara College. This marked the fourth exchange between the two schools and, as always, proved to be a highly competitive and exciting day for all involved.

The event gave eight of our sports teams a valuable opportunity to play competitive matches ahead of the upcoming winter season in Term 2. With over 200 students from both schools taking part, it was a massive day for the Sports Department. A special thanks goes to Mr. Te’o for his significant role in planning and organising the event.

Having won the first three Kaipara exchanges, Waitākere College aimed to make it four in a row—and delivered. Our teams held their nerve and came out on top in the majority of the fixtures. The results were:

  • 9A Netball Girls – Won 33–20
  • Premier Netball Girls – Won 41–29
  • Junior Girls Football – Won 6–1
  • Senior Boys Football – Won 13–0
  • Junior Boys Basketball – Won 82–41
  • Senior Boys Basketball – Won 91–47
  • Girls Rugby 10s – Lost 7–26
  • 1st XV Rugby Boys – Lost 7–35

The day ended with the all-important shield presentation - claimed once again by Waitākere College, making it four straight victories in this special rivalry.

Good luck to all our winter sports teams for the upcoming season! A huge thank you to all coaches, managers, transport staff, and volunteers—your efforts make sport possible at our school.
