Waitākere College

Languages Awards; Another Winning Streak for Watākere College!

This month, we competed in the annual EP International Languages Championship 2025. We challenged our students to beat last year's 52nd place, and they didn't let us down! We placed 27th globally out of over 1,800 schools throughout the globe.
This shows that our Waitākere Language students are among the top in the world.

Students answered over 314,000 questions and spent 480 hours learning languages to get to this level.

We presented the top award winners with the certificates and prizes, which included a variety of Westcity gift cards, stationery and chocolate.

Here's the breakdown of our overall achievements:

27th in the World
7th overall in NZ
1st in NZ and internationally for Samoan
5th in NZ and internationally for Chinese
9th in NZ and internationally for French
2nd in NZ for Greek
3rd in NZ for Indonesian
4th in NZ for Latin

Special shout out to our ELITE winners. With over 65,000 students, Wendy placed 27th, Lin 33rd and Jackie 60th in the world!
We also could not have achieved these amazing results without the help of all of the students who participated.

Thank you,

The International Languages Department
