By the numbers 43, 4, 20 and 5.  43 kilometres walked in 4 days with an average pack weight of 20 kilograms while walking at an average pace of 5 km per hour.  The 2025 Services Academy Bushcraft course had it all.  Cross country navigation by day, night navigation,  building and sleeping in an improvised shelter and fire lighting lessons to name a few.

The entire Academy of 20 students arrived on Monday with high morale, even as the weather deteriorated at Woodhill Forest. The students were led by members of the New Zealand Defence Force Youth Development Unit.  An amazing test of individual resilience and skills.
