1st XI Boys Football Team Retain A1 Status for 2026
After an impressive 1-0 defeat of King's College 1st XI at Starling Park on Friday night, the boys' 1st XI Football team ensured they will be in the competitive A1 grade for another season with a game to spare.
A very young side took on the more fancied Kings side in a must win match. The game was very tense, and our boys worked tirelessly, defended superbly, and took our chance when it came. Ryugo Hosoya calmly slotting the goal past the keeper after a great turn from Brandon Cole in midfield.
While the whole squad was excellent on the night, Brandon Cole (Year 10) was superb in his first start in midfield.
With three Year 10s and four Year 11s in the starting lineup and only one Year 13 in captain Dylan Larmer, the young team could have a bright future.
The entire squad has been working hard since February this year, and some of the boys will have played close to 22 games by the season's end. The team has also had good wins against Rangitoto, Rosmini, Kings, Northcote, Liston, Rutherford, Western Springs, and Glendowie College throughout the season.
The boys have their last regular season game this Friday against Glendowie, and a win here could see the team finish as high as third in the A1 grade, which would rank them as one of the top 11 schools in Auckland for the 2025 season.
