Welcome to the 2025 Waitākere College Senior Derived Exams. Read this carefully to support your success by providing clear information about your exam schedule, workshops, and important NCEA exam rules.

At Waitākere College, our values of Mātauranga (Learning), Manawanui (Caring), and Aroha (Respect) guide everything we do. These exams are a chance to show what you've learned, reflect on your progress, and continue striving for Excellence. We're proud of the hard work you've put in, and we want to support you to do your best.

You'll notice that workshops are offered in conjunction with exams. If an Exam clashes with your workshop, please speak with both of your teachers to make a plan. You may be able to use the 'clash exam sessions' to complete any exam you missed.

Look after yourself, ask for help when you need it, and know that your teachers and support staff are here with you on this journey every step of the way. IMPORTANT RULES:

● YOU MUST attend your scheduled exam/workshop -

○ Normal attendance rules apply

● Arrive 10 minutes before your exam/workshop starts - rolls taken

● All exams begin at either 8:45 AM or 11:35 AM

● During exam/workshop Week, you may only be on school premises for that specific exam/workshop.

○ YOU MUST leave campus immediately after your exam/workshop ends-

○ You are not permitted to remain on site to hang out with friends etc

● Use the time you are not in school as study leave/working on portfolio work at home

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES Before Your Exam - Arrive 10 minutes early to:

● Find your correct exam room

● Settle in calmly

● Organise your materials

● Listen to instructions What to Bring

✅ Approved stationery (pens, pencils, ruler, eraser) ✅ Approved calculator (if permitted for your subject) ✅ Water in a clear bottle What NOT to Bring

❌ Mobile phones or smart devices ❌ Notes, books, or study materials ❌ Food ❌ Unauthorised calculators ❌ Smart watches

EXAM ROOM EXPECTATIONS

During Your Exam

● Remain silent throughout the entire exam

● Raise your hand if you need assistance

● Stay in your seat unless permitted to move

● Do not communicate with other students

If You Need Help - Your supervisors CAN help you with:

● ✅ Clarifying exam procedures

● ✅ Providing replacement pens/materials

● ✅ Pointing out if you're in the wrong section

● ✅ Confirming calculator rules

Your supervisors CANNOT help you with:

● ❌ Explaining what questions mean

● ❌ Giving hints about answers

● ❌ Subject-specific advice

● ❌ Interpreting exam questions

Time Management

● Listen for time announcements at: 1 hour, 30 minutes, 15 minutes, 5 minutes remaining.

● Plan your time across all questions

● Keep working until time is called

● Stop immediately when instructed

● You will NOT be allowed to leave early - use the whole time you have been allocated SPECIAL PROVISIONS

If You Feel Unwell

● Raise your hand quietly for assistance

● Stay calm - your supervisor will help

● Don't leave without permission

● Consider whether you can continue or need medical support EXAM CLASHES

If Your Exam clashes with a Workshop

1. Talk to BOTH teachers as soon as possible

2. Make a plan for completing both assessments

3. Your Teacher will contact Mrs Tausā to organise a time for you to sit your exam.
