On Friday 29th August, our Mahi-ā-Toi students proudly held their exhibition at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa on Lincoln Road.
The work they had completed within the two terms of attending Te Wānanga o Aotearoa were on display for family and friends to see.
The students had a variety of displays working with digital design, Māori wooden carvings of Patu’s and Mangopare (which means a powerful symbol of inner and outer strength, representing perseverance and the ability to overcome challenges with steadfast resolve).
The evening started with a Karakia and was followed by a Waiata called Toku Reo Toku Ohooho.
After viewing the impressive displays of artwork together, students and their families enjoyed a shared feast brought in by whānau. Students were also able to take their artwork home as a memento of their achievement.
A huge thank you to all the students who are part of the Mahi-a-Toi Academy, Bella Frost, Bella Quezada-Reihana, Israel Taylor-Harris, Mariah Tamihere-Johnston and Phoenyx Peri. We had a wonderful evening.
