Waitākere College is proud to celebrate a historic and inspiring milestone - the arrival of our very first Pacific building, a Fale Sāmoa, named “Fale Uaitakele”. This remarkable structure stands as a symbol of cultural pride, unity, and the spirit of collaboration for our school community. This will be used for the language students as part of their learning journey.
Thanks to our talented Year 13 Building Academy students, in partnership with their Tertiary studies at Unitec. Guided by their tutor, Ruben Sigglekow, who worked tirelessly throughout the year to bring this vision to life.
Over the recent school break, the journey reached a meaningful milestone with the blessing of the “breaking of ground”; this journey was shared by a few of the Komiti Sāmoa team and staff who were present. The following day, the main structure of the Fale arrived on campus, a powerful moment marking the beginning of a new chapter for Waitākere College.
We now look forward to the arrival of the fa’alo (roof of the Fale) in Week 2 of Term 4, followed by a special Fale Ceremony in Week 3, a moment that will stand as a lasting testament to the strength and pride of our Pacific community here at Waitākere College.
