Futsal is a new sport introduced to the College over the past two years, supported through funding from the Active As initiative. This initiative is focused on providing a wider range of opportunities for students to be physically active, and futsal has quickly become one of the most successful additions to our sports programme.
This year, we entered two Boys’ futsal teams into the Northern Region West Futsal Competition. For many students, this was their first time playing futsal, but they quickly learned the game and delivered outstanding performances throughout the 7-week season.
The A Grade Boys’ Team finished their season undefeated, claiming the title with six wins and one draw, scoring over 60 goals in the process.
The B Grade Boys’ Team also went undefeated, winning all seven of their matches and scoring over 70 goals. It was an exceptional season for both teams and a clear highlight of the growing futsal talent at Waitākere College.
A special thank you to Mr Hough for his coaching and commitment to both futsal teams throughout the season.
The Senior Futsal season will begin in Term 1 of 2026. Any boys or girls interested in playing are encouraged to contact Mr Hough to express their interest.
