Year 13 Building Technology Project: A Capstone Achievement

We are delighted to formally announce the successful culmination of the Year 13 Building Technology class's major project for 2025: the design and construction of a complete sleepout. This demanding and impressive undertaking, which spanned the majority of the academic year, was brought to completion during the second-to-last week of November.

To our Year 13 students: please accept our highest commendation. You are urged to take a moment to reflect on your achievement and appreciate the profound skill, diligence, and pride that has gone into this structure. The final result is a powerful testament to the caliber of work your hands are capable of producing.

An Invaluable Experiential Learning Opportunity

This initiative served as an outstanding example of experiential learning, affording our students the extraordinary opportunity to fully engage with the intricacies of the construction process.

Thanks to the dedicated staff and community support, our students were exposed to the comprehensive lifecycle of a build, transcending theoretical knowledge to gain mastery in practical application. It is truly remarkable to witness the level of technical competence and confidence our Waitākere students have cultivated through this project. As an educator, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for facilitating such a richly rewarding educational experience.

The Project Finds a Home!

We are pleased to confirm that the completed sleepout has been purchased by the family of a valued member of our school staff. This acquisition not only validates the quality of the students' workmanship but also ensures that their project remains connected to the heart of the Waitākere community.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone whose support and partnership made this exceptional hands-on learning opportunity possible.

Thank you, Waitākere, for fostering another year of beautiful accomplishment and meaningful learning.
