Sun, Surf, and Memories: Year 10’s Coromandel Adventure

Last week, our first group of 59 Year 10 students kicked off their Coromandel adventure, enjoying a week packed with sun, sand, and surf. This week, another 57 students joined in the fun. Despite predictions of heavy rain for the first week, the weather was fantastic—perfect for swimming, soaking up the sun (while practising sun safety!), and exploring the beautiful beaches. In addition to beach time, students tried kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and banana boating—exciting firsts for many of them.

After two years of closure, we finally made it to the magical Cathedral Cove—affectionately known as Narnia—where students eagerly practised their body surfing skills. The refreshing waves were a welcome reward after the challenging 30-minute walk in the summer heat.

A huge thank you to all the students who embraced the adventure and joined the camp. For many, this will be their only camping experience in high school, so it was truly special to share this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with 116 students. Camp is always full of unforgettable moments—and every student left with lasting memories and a Y10 Camp necklace as a keepsake.
