Congratulations to our Deputy Principal, Jane Coup, on her appointment as the new Principal of Kaipara College!

Jane has been an outstanding teacher and leader at Waitākere College for the past 14 years. During this time, she founded our Medical Science Academy, which has greatly increased student achievement and participation in senior sciences — Physics, Chemistry, and Biology — paving the way for many to pursue tertiary study. As Head of Science for six years, Jane helped grow the number of students choosing senior sciences before moving into the role of Deputy Principal, which she has held for the last four years.

As Deputy Principal, Jane’s influence has been felt across the College. Initiatives such as Consistency Counts, improvements to our IT systems and Chromebook access, and the visible growth of Te Reo Māori and Rumaki stand out as highlights of her leadership. Remarkably, she also completed a Master of Secondary School Leadership (MSSL) with Distinction during this time — a testament to her commitment to excellence.

Jane’s leadership style - defined by reliability, calmness, honesty, integrity, and aroha - will serve her well as she steps into this exciting new chapter.

Jane was farewelled by the College community on Wednesday. We wish her all the best as she takes on this wonderful opportunity. Congratulations, Jane!
