Waitākere College is celebrating academic achievement following the recent announcement of the 2025 NZQA Scholarship results. In a display of dedication and intellectual rigour, nine students from the college have collectively earned 11 Scholarships, marking one of the school's most successful years on the national stage.
The New Zealand Scholarship exams are renowned for their difficulty, designed to challenge the top 3% of students in the country. To succeed requires not just a mastery of the curriculum, but the ability to think critically, apply complex concepts, and communicate with sophisticated insight.
Wendy Guan, the Proxime Accessit for 2025, and Taipua Kipa each received two scholarships. Wendy was recognised in both Design and Visual Communication as well as Design, while Taipua earned scholarships in painting and sculpture.
Both Wendy Guan, our 2025 Proxime Accessit and fellow student Taipua Kipa, an exceptional artist, secured two scholarships each! Wendy showed her creative range in Design and Visual Communication (DVC) and Design, while Taipua demonstrated artistic mastery in both Painting and Sculpture.
We held a morning tea celebration at school with the scholarship students who could attend, to congratulate them in person and celebrate their achievements with the teachers and staff.
Congratulations to all our scholarship winners and their teachers/mentors for this exceptional achievement!
