This week, Waitākere College hosted our annual Year 9 BBQ and Parents Meet and Greet. It was a fantastic evening dedicated to strengthening the connection between our school, our newest students, and their whānau.
With the 2026 school year now in full swing, this event provided the perfect opportunity for parents and caregivers to come into the college and meet their children's tutor teachers and Deans, as well as the Senior Leadership Team, who will be guiding their children through this pivotal first year of high school.
A huge shout-out to our 2026 Prefects, who manned the grills with flair! Beyond the sausage sizzle, these student leaders were a welcoming presence - answering questions, guiding parents and ensuring the event ran smoothly from start to finish.
We look forward to the Year 9 Outdoor Education trips starting on March 4th. These beach days are a fantastic way for our Year 9s and Peer Mentors to bond through team-building challenges and plenty of fun in the water.
We want to extend a massive thank you to all the families who attended. Your involvement is key to your child's success, and we are thrilled to have you as part of the Waitākere College community.
