On Monday, nine students proudly represented Waitākere College at the Western Zone Athletics Championships. The competition provided students with the opportunity to compete across a range of track and field events, while also aiming to record qualifying times for the upcoming Auckland Championships later in the year.

Events contested included the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 4x100m relay, along with field events such as shot put, long jump, high jump, and javelin. All students competed with determination and pride, representing the college exceptionally well, and several athletes achieved new personal bests.

Outstanding performances on the day included:

Lachlan Snook –1st Place, Senior Boys 800m (2:11)

Lachlan Snook – 2nd Place, Senior Boys 400m (56 seconds)

Blake Butler – 4th Place, Intermediate Boys 400m

Blake Butler – 4th Place, Intermediate Boys 800m

Toby Sumner – 5th Place, Senior Boys 800m
