Drenched in School Spirit: The Slime-Filled 2026 Colour Fundraiser

This week we once again filled the school with colour for half a day with our second successful Colour Fun Run. Linked to an event management standard in the Level 3 Sport course, all juniors and the ISC were invited to participate in the hope that we would match last year's fundraising total of over $20,000. While we didn't quite hit that mark, we managed to reach a fantastic $10,365! This was an especially exciting milestone as our Principal, Mr Shanahan, agreed to be slimed once we hit the $10k mark.

For two periods, part of the school field was transformed into an obstacle course featuring a cargo net, hurdles, a log run, and a foam machine. To end the day, we had the water slide going, which is always a hit after a day in the sun. All these activities took place while the Level 3 Sport students sprayed colour over the runners, getting them ready for snaps at the exclusive photo booth. We even had a dunk tank where several brave teachers and students volunteered as 'sitting ducks' - none of whom survived dry!

Due to the efforts of these amazing students and their whānau, the $10,365 raised will go to the Waitākere College Foundation to be used for new sports equipment that our students can enjoy around the school. We would also like to acknowledge our Alumni Team - a group of ex-students - who showed their school spirit by raising an additional $510.

A massive thank you, especially to Olivia Fugmann and David Hough, for their support in the lead-up to this event; with their help, we were able to provide even more fun for our runners.
Last but not least, Ms Tai Tin and Mr Stevens for running this event for the second year!

Congratulations to our top three fundraisers:

  • 1st Place: Aesha Astha ($800)

  • 2nd Place: Logan Hurricks ($450)

  • 3rd Place: Merielle Ancheta ($370)
