Tracing the Impact of the Atomic Bomb on Aotearoa

On Thursday, the three Year 11 History classes went on a field trip in connection to their research into the impact of the Atomic Bomb on Aotearoa New Zealand. They walked up the slopes of Maungauika North Head and explored the ammunition tunnels and famous "Disappearing Guns". They received a lecture on the stories of Kiwi who took part in the Navy's Operation Grapple from museum educators. Then, our young historians explored the Torpedo Bay Naval Museum and learned more about the navy's experiences during conflict, and their role in the world today.
