Recently, we had the privilege of hosting Michael Hutcheson, who visited our school as a guest speaker for the School of Business classes. Michael is the owner of Lighthouse and the founder of Hutch & Co. We were fortunate to hear his wisdom and learn from his experiences in business and promotion. His presentation had a profound impact on the School of Business, particularly through the valuable advice he shared about life, creativity, and the future of business. One of the key messages he emphasised was that there is plenty of time in life to figure out what you truly want to do, so students should not feel pressured to have everything planned out immediately. He also stressed the importance of creativity, explaining that it is one of the most valuable skills in business today, stating, “ We don’t grow into creativity, we grow out of it”. In addition, he discussed how AI is becoming more influential in society and encouraged us to learn how to incorporate it into our lives to help us succeed in the future.

During his presentation, Michael explained several important ideas about promotion and marketing. He shared examples of advertisements he had created in the past and showed us some of the strategies businesses use when promoting products and services. Through these examples, he demonstrated how creativity plays a major role in attracting attention and engaging people. He explained that having a creative mindset is essential in business because it inspires people and helps businesses stand out from competitors.

By connecting all of the ideas and experiences Michael shared with us, we were able to understand his message clearly and take away many valuable lessons. His presentation was both inspirational and informative, and the advice he provided will help shape how we develop as individuals within the business world.
