One of our Year 13 Building Academy students, Grayson, is currently gaining valuable workplace experience with Cassidy Construction.

Each week, Grayson heads out to one of Cassidy Construction’s work sites, where he is getting a real taste of what life in the building industry is like. His experience has included taping door frames, framing, general construction tasks and labouring, giving him the opportunity to learn new skills while working alongside experienced tradespeople.

A special thank you goes to Keegan from Cassidy Construction, who has been supporting Grayson throughout his placement and acting as a valuable guide as he learns more about the trade. 

For Grayson, the experience has been enjoyable and motivating, particularly because of his passion for building. Being able to see the skills he is learning come to life on an actual work site has helped him build confidence and develop a better understanding of what a future career in building and construction could look like.

Grayson’s advice to other students beginning their journey in the trades industry is simple: “Try your best, don't be afraid to ask for help and don’t be afraid to give things a go and make mistakes.”We are proud to see Grayson getting stuck in, asking questions and making the most of every opportunity to learn.
