Waitākere College students Maddison Meredith and Billy Leaf were both finalists at Stand Up Stand Out this year, celebrating the musical talent and creativity of young people from across Tāmaki Makaurau.

Maddison achieved an outstanding result, winning first place in the Solo Vocal category. As part of her win, Maddison received a $1,000 Rockshop voucher and was invited to a studio recording session, providing an exciting opportunity for her musical development. Her award was presented by New Zealand music icon Che Fu.

Billy Leaf also represented Waitākere College as a finalist in the Electronic Music category with his original composition. It was exciting to see Billy's music featured on the big screen at the Town Hall during the event.

Congratulations to Maddison and Billy for their hard work and for representing Waitākere College at Stand Up Stand Out this year. We look on with excitement as they continue to flourish in their musical careers.
